Must-Haves in Meditation Rooms
Meditation
rooms speak so much of the character of the person that owns
them. This is because, whenever a room is designed, there is
always a specific purpose in the mind of the planner.
There is no set way to customize Meditation rooms. It can be as
minimal as you want such as having just a carpet and a cushion
on the floor. Or you can adorn it with things that will set you
in the mood to Meditate. However, the lesser the distractions
there are in the room, the greater the easier you’ll find it to
Meditate.
There are certain items that are highly recommended to be
included in Meditation rooms. These will not only make you feel
more comfortable, they are also instrumental in helping you
achieve the peace you’re seeking while in Meditation.
• Cushions – if you’re considering Meditating on the
floor, this will help in keeping you comfortable. Pick a piece
that has enough padding to provide a soft seat for you
throughout the exercise. It can be a distraction once your
bottom starts to get tired pressing on the hard floor, so be
sure to have a good cushion to make you Meditate continuously
without a nagging pain.
• Scented Candles or Incense – aside from clearing the
air of impurities, this also helps set the mood. You may light
the incense or candle a few minutes before you start Meditating
so that the essence has already filled the entire Meditation
room, thus easily getting you in the right mood. You may try
different scents each time to make you feel refreshed or you may
also opt for something that you prefer. Be sure to turn off any
overhead lighting to achieve the best calming effects.
• Prayer Table – there are certain types of Meditations
like those associated with religion, that will find use for
this. You can put an image of the Buddha or God on it and you
may also set your candles and incense here.
• Pictures or Photos – you may decorate Meditation rooms with
photos that bring you peace when you look at it such as your
family, nature (like sunrise or the sea) or anything that you
find very relaxing.
• CD Player – you may play sounds that will help in
keeping you relaxed and give you a feeling of tranquility such
as that of running water, slow instrumental music or birds
singing. You may use it to play CDs of Guided Meditation.
• Flowers – this can really do wonders to a room, it
gives a refreshing atmosphere. Don’t overdo it though. Place
just enough to balance the environment.
It’s important that you make your Meditation room as personal
and mood-setting as possible. The size doesn’t matter, what’s
important is that you are able to achieve your goal while using
it.
